Network Creation
What is a Network?
"Network" is one of the most misused words in the
world of SEO and Internet Marketing. Many make it sound as
if it
is some great technological advance or sophisticated security
system for your website. In reality, a network is simply a
reflection of its dictionary meaning – as in power in
numbers or separate entities linked by a common thread. For
our purposes, a network is purely a group of websites linked
to each other, through a variety of techniques, which we will
guide you through.
The Benefits of a Network
The most obvious benefit
is the adage of "power in numbers",
in that the larger your net, so to speak, the greater your
chances of catching more fish. Since Google changed is
algorithm, having multiple links to one's own sites from
different domains
and so forth, has little benefit, and should these sites
mirror themselves in content, it will actually harm the optimisation
and rankings of your sites. However, if you are dealing
with a very large topic or group of products , and are faced
with
the decision of whether to put all your content under one
site
and domain, or whether to split it up and create a series
of different websites under their own domains, we at Imand
certainly
recommend the latter. For example, if you were planning
a website on the travel industry, and were planning just
a single
website
containing, amongst others, the following categories:
- Cruises
- Discounted Airfare
- Package Holidays
- Recommended Hotels
- Adventure Holidays
Rather than placing all these categories
under a single website, e.g. Travel.com; you would reap
far more benefits
( especially
if it is a start-up) if you specialised and individualised
each of these categories into their own websites and
then subsequently, subtly, interlinked them to each other.
An
example of this
would be:
Creating a Network
The benefits of creating such
a network include the following:
- Greater specialisation for
your traffic or visitors.
- Each
website will be able to create its own set of unique
links – adding
weight to your SEO and the ranking of
your network of sites as a whole.
- Being able to integrate
more specific keywords
in the actual content related to any
search enquiry.
- By having unique domain names in
each topic, and more relevant titles, your sites
will be much more
Search
Engine friendly.
Your ability to build
a database of subscribers will be far easier
and
more focused.
All of the above
is with a caveat that each website within your
website MUST
have unique
content. |
